Avenue Society Code of Conduct

A stronger community starts with how we treat one another.

Avenue Society is designed to bring people together through trusted relationships, shared experiences, and meaningful connection. This Code sets the standard for participation across our events, membership community, communications, digital services, and partner interactions.

This Code complements our Terms & Conditions, Privacy Policy, venue rules, and event-specific directions. Everyone shares responsibility for making Avenue experiences respectful and safe.

01

The standard we share

Purpose & scope

This Code applies to members, guests, prospective members, attendees, speakers, hosts, Avenue team members, contractors, suppliers, partners, and anyone participating in or representing an Avenue Society experience.

It applies in person and online, including at events and venues, during property or community introductions, in messages and social channels connected with Avenue, and in conduct before or after an experience where that conduct may materially affect another participant or the community.

02

Everyone belongs with dignity

Respect, inclusion & belonging

Engage with courtesy, curiosity, and respect. Make space for different perspectives and communicate in a way that supports participation without diminishing another person.

Welcome difference

Respect identities, cultures, backgrounds, family structures, beliefs, abilities, and lived experiences.

Communicate thoughtfully

Listen, avoid assumptions, and address disagreement without personal attacks or intimidation.

Respect boundaries

Seek consent, accept “no”, and stop conduct when someone indicates that it is unwelcome.

03

Care in practice

Safety, wellbeing & shared responsibility

Take reasonable care for your own safety and the safety of people around you. Follow emergency procedures, venue signage, capacity limits, responsible-service requirements, and reasonable directions from Avenue representatives, venue staff, or emergency personnel.

  • Raise hazards, accessibility needs, or wellbeing concerns as early as practical.
  • Supervise children and any guest who depends on your care.
  • Do not participate in an activity if impaired or unable to do so safely.
  • Use equipment, facilities, transport, and event spaces only as directed.
  • Contact venue staff or emergency services immediately where there is an urgent safety risk.
04

A considered guest experience

Events, venues & hosts

Arrive with a valid registration, follow guest limits, and respect event timing, dress, access, and venue requirements. Treat hosts, speakers, performers, caterers, security, neighbours, and venue teams with the same consideration expected within the Avenue community.

AArrival

Use your own valid pass, cooperate with check-in, and provide accurate guest information.

BShared spaces

Keep access routes clear, use facilities carefully, and avoid unreasonable disruption.

CHosts & speakers

Allow others to contribute without interruption, hostility, or unwanted promotion.

DDeparture

Follow closing directions and leave responsibly with consideration for the local community.

05

Respect beyond the room

Digital communication & community spaces

Apply the same standards in email, direct messages, online groups, event tools, social media, and digital services connected with Avenue. Keep communication relevant, respectful, and proportionate.

  • Do not spam, impersonate, deceive, or distribute malicious content.
  • Do not share another person’s contact details or private messages without permission.
  • Respect group purpose, moderator guidance, and communication preferences.
  • Do not use Avenue access to pressure others for business, personal, or political purposes.
  • Do not interfere with accounts, tickets, systems, networks, or security controls.
  • Pause before posting content that could harm another person or the community.
06

Consent matters

Privacy, photography & personal boundaries

Respect personal space, confidentiality, and requests not to be photographed, recorded, tagged, or contacted. Do not disclose sensitive personal, property, financial, health, or family information learned through an Avenue interaction without a valid reason and appropriate permission.

Avenue may arrange event photography or recording and will aim to provide notice where practical. If you have a concern, speak with the event team so reasonable options can be considered. Media captured by participants must not be used to embarrass, exploit, misrepresent, or commercially promote another person without permission.

07

Trust through transparency

Professional integrity, introductions & conflicts

Be honest about your identity, role, qualifications, interests, and authority. Do not use an Avenue introduction or community relationship to imply endorsement, guarantee an outcome, or create undue pressure.

Disclose a relevant personal or commercial interest when it could reasonably affect an introduction, recommendation, decision, or opportunity. Keep confidential information secure and use it only for the purpose for which it was shared.

08

Clear boundaries

Unacceptable conduct

The following conduct is inconsistent with participation in Avenue Society:

  • harassment, bullying, stalking, intimidation, threats, violence, or coercion;
  • discrimination, hateful conduct, humiliation, or degrading remarks;
  • unwelcome sexual attention, touching, imagery, comments, or repeated personal contact;
  • retaliation against a person who raises a concern or supports another person to do so;
  • fraud, theft, deliberate property damage, bribery, or misuse of confidential information;
  • dangerous, illegal, seriously disruptive, or persistently disrespectful behaviour; and
  • encouraging, assisting, concealing, or knowingly ignoring serious misconduct.

This list is not exhaustive. Conduct may be addressed where it creates a material safety, wellbeing, legal, reputational, or community concern even if it is not specifically listed above.

09

Speaking up matters

Reporting a concern

If you experience, witness, or learn about conduct that may breach this Code, tell an Avenue representative, event host, venue manager, or the Avenue Property team as soon as you feel able. For an urgent safety issue, contact venue security or emergency services first.

Share what happened

Include the date, place, people involved, relevant context, and any immediate safety concern.

Ask for support

You may bring a support person to a conversation where appropriate and practical.

No retaliation

Retaliation for raising a genuine concern or participating in a review is not acceptable.

Concerns should be raised honestly. A report that is not substantiated is not necessarily a false report. Knowingly providing materially false information may itself breach this Code.

10

A fair and proportionate response

How concerns may be handled

Avenue may assess a concern, take immediate protective steps, seek information from relevant people, review available records, or refer a matter to a venue, employer, service provider, regulator, or authority where appropriate.

We aim to respond with discretion, procedural fairness, and regard for safety and privacy. Complete confidentiality cannot be guaranteed because information may need to be shared to assess a concern, protect people, obtain advice, or meet legal obligations.

Outcomes may include guidance, an apology or agreed resolution, a warning, conditions on participation, removal from an event, suspension or withdrawal of access, ending a partnership, or referral to an appropriate external body. The response will depend on the seriousness, context, evidence, risk, impact, and any pattern of conduct.
